Abstract
Drug court is a specialty court that aims to rehabilitate drug offenders through rehabilitative treatment and judicial supervision. Empirical research suggests drug court, as a model, works. However, the actual impact of each drug court varies depending on its implementation. One important element of building a successful drug court is consistent evaluation, which requires collaboration between drug court professionals and scholars. In this lecture, Dr. Ruibin Lu will talk about her research experience working with multiple drug courts in the Country. She will introduce the history of drug courts, how do drug courts rehabilitative drug offenders, and the challenges faced by drug court professionals. She will also discuss how does scholar-practitioner collaboration benefit the development of drug courts and what criminal justice professionals can do to strengthen such collaboration.
