John Marsh holds a Ph.D. in physics from Carnegie Mellon University (1992), an M.S. in Mathematics and a B.S. in in Physics from Ohio University (1984). His academic background includes a post-doctoral appointment at the College de France in Paris, in the laboratory of P.G. deGennes.
Professor Marsh has 10 years of experience in high-tech industry, including research, development, and marketing roles. His industry experience includes working as Product Line Manager at JDS Uniphase for advanced planar lightguide products (AWG, ROADM) used in the fiber optic network core, and at Assured Information Security as a cybersecurity researcher.
His work at SUNY Poly (formerly the SUNY Institute of Technology) has focused on creating and growing the cybersecurity B.S. and M.S. programs in Network and Computer Security (NCS).
Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and family, and playing guitar and singing in a rock band.
