Michele Brennan-Vuocolo

My name is Dr. Michele Brennan-Vuocolo, You may refer to me Dr. Brennan for short. I have been working for SUNY Poly going on my forth year. I first was the clinical coordinator, then changed to full-time faculty. I have been a family nurse practitioner for 25 plus years. I have enjoyed every minute of my career. I received my Doctorate in Nursing Practice MS, degree at Binghamton University in May 2020, and I received my MS and FNP certification at Binghamton University in 1995. My dissertation is focused in:
A PRE- BRIEFING EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM DESIGNED TO IMPROVE CONFIDENCE LEVELS FOR HEALTH ASSESSMENT GRADUATE NURSE PRACTITIONER STUDENTS UTILIZING STANDARDIZED PATIENT SIMULATION TESTING.
I have been blessed with the opportunity to work in a variety of areas which include: family practice, internal medicine, cardiology, pulmonology, emergency medicine, hospitalist medicine, and urgent care. I have owned my own business combined with urgent care/ primary care. I enjoy my job most when combining academia, and patient care. I did have the opportunity to experience this when employed with Mayo health system and Dartmouth. I have been employed in very large organizations and small private facilities, (they both have amazing aspects, and negative points), but I would not trade any of my experience for the world. I taught at a private university BSN level, prior to moving to this area.
I enjoy teaching the FNP program here at SUNY, as it holds a special place in my heart. Teaching and mentoring new nurse practitioners is most exciting and rewarding.
