Student Health Services provides a range of care that is covered under the mandatory health service fee on campus. In some cases you may need to be referred by Student Health Services to off-campus healthcare providers for services beyond what is available on campus. We strongly encourage students to ensure they have adequate health insurance. Please check with your current private insurance company to verify you are covered by your plan while you are in the Albany area. Off campus healthcare providers require your private insurance company information (company name, subscriber name and ID number, billing address, etc.), thus you should have a copy of your health insurance card with you while at college.
All students are charged the SUNY Poly Student Health Service Fee. This fee is not a health insurance charge but instead covers only services that are provided at Student Health Services, whereas a health insurance plan might cover services that are provided outside of Student Health Services, such as laboratory and radiology tests, physical therapy, and visits to physicians, hospitals and other providers.
Student Health Services is not a participating healthcare provider with any insurance company thus do not submit claims to your private health insurance company.
