International Admissions - Graduate Admission Requirements

Admission to SUNY Polytechnic Institute is competitive and based on an extensive review of academic qualifications, proof of financial support, and recommendations. Foreign transcripts and documents must be professionally evaluated and translated in English. Applicants must use a service that is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services. We require a course-by-course evaluation with GPA calculated.

Degree Programs + Requirements
All applicants must have earned a baccalaureate degree or its equivalent with a 3.0 (B) or higher cumulative GPA by U.S. standards to be considered for admission.

(For applicants from India, a 60% academic credential is required.)

  • MS in Computer Information Science: Applicants must possess a baccalaureate degree with a major in computer science or information systems. In addition, a background in mathematics including calculus, discrete mathematics and probability is required.
  • MS in Cybersecurity - Network & Computer SecurityApplicants must possess the equivalent of an undergraduate degree in network and computer security, computer science or systems, electrical engineering, or a related field.

English Language Proficiency
Applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency by achieving the minimum score noted below from one of the following standardized exams:

  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): Internet based score of 79
  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS): Overall band score of 6.5
  • PTE Academic (PTE): Overall score of 53
  • Duolingo English Test (DET): Total score of 105

GRE (Graduate Record Exam) 
A minimum GRE quantitative reasoning score - 153

Degree Programs + Requirements
Applicants to the following programs must have earned a baccalaureate degree or its equivalent with a 3.0 (B) or higher cumulative GPA by U.S. standards to be considered for admission. 
The bachelor's degree must be in the physical, chemical, biological, or computer sciences, mathematics, or engineering. 


English Language Proficiency
Applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency by achieving the minimum score noted below from one of the following standardized exams:

  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): Internet based score of 100
  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS): Overall band score of 7.5
  • PTE Academic (PTE): Overall score of 73
  • Duolingo English Test (DET): Total score of 120

GRE (Graduate Record Exam) 
Highly recommended, but not required for admission to the nano programs.
