From a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) perspective, hanging various country flags on a college campus is a symbolic gesture that fosters inclusivity and celebrates the diversity of the international student body and faculty.

Flags are displayed throughout campus with locations in Kunsela Hall, Wildcat Field House, Cayan Library, Student Center, the Multicultural Center, and Donovan Hall. Flags are a way of promoting a sense of belonging, visually affirming our campus commitment to promoting greater understanding and respect among students from different backgrounds. By promoting cultural awareness and understanding, flag displays help cultivate a more interconnected campus community. This encourages students to develop empathy and appreciate the world's broad cultural landscape.

During the month of October, the following national flags will be displayed to celebrate the Country’s Flag Day: Nigeria, China, Cyprus, Taiwan, Zambia, Greece and Turkey. The Dominican Republic national flag, currently hanging in the Multicultural Center, represents Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15–October 15). Heritage months are designated periods, often a full month, to celebrate and educate about the histories, cultures, and contributions of various ethnic and marginalized groups in the United States.
