M. Jasim Uddin PhD

Dr. M. Jasim Uddin, a distinguished researcher in materials science and engineering with an h-index of 30 and an i-10 index of 63, earned his BS in Chemical Engineering from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Bangladesh, and a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Technology from the University of Turin, Italy. He has published over 85 ISI-indexed journal articles, holds four patents, and has authored two books. His research contributions span advanced energy technologies, three-dimensional solar cells, and smart textiles.
Dr. Uddin served as the Fred W. and Frances H. Rusteberg Faculty in Science & Technology Professor , Co-Director of the Materials Science and Engineering Ph.D. Program, and Director of the Photonics and Energy Research Laboratory (PERL) at UTRGV. He has secured over $20 million in research funding and leads a dynamic team of researchers. He graduated more than 30 graduate, 50 undergraduate and 4 postdoctoral fellow.
Recognized for his excellence, Dr. Uddin has received more than 20 awards, including the UTRGV Exceptional Merit Award (2017–2023) and the Texas Governor Champion Award (2021). He is an Editor for Nature Scientific Reports and for Sustainability. His groundbreaking work continues to advance sustainable energy, biomedical engineering, and materials science, shaping the next generation of scientific leaders.
