Alexandriana Butka
Alexandriana (Alex) Butka serves as an ACE Advisor at SUNY Polytechnic Institute, where she is passionate about supporting students as they navigate their transition to college and develop the skills and confidence needed to achieve their goals. She believes in building meaningful relationships with students and providing individualized, student-centered support that helps each student feel empowered throughout their college journey.
Prior to joining SUNY Poly, Alex gained experience in academic advising, student success, and student affairs through roles at SUNY Binghamton and SUNY Oneonta. Most recently, she served as a Graduate Assistant in Fraternity and Sorority Life at SUNY Binghamton, where she advised student organizations and supported student leadership and development. She also worked as a Success Coach Intern at Utica University and an Education Abroad Intern at SUNY Binghamton, experiences that strengthened her passion for helping students explore opportunities, overcome barriers, and make the most of their college experience.
Throughout her graduate studies, Alex has developed a particular interest in understanding the diverse experiences of college students and the ways institutions can create more inclusive and engaging environments. Her research has explored nontraditional students, students with disabilities and their experiences within fraternity and sorority life, and the role of high-impact practices in the college experience.
Alex holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Business Economics from SUNY Oneonta and a Master of Science in Higher Education and Student Affairs from SUNY Binghamton. She is excited to bring her experiences in advising and student development to SUNY Poly and looks forward to getting to know students and helping them find their place within the campus community.
Originally from the Mohawk Valley, Alex enjoys traveling, reading, watching movies and shows, listening to music, and spending time in nature. She also loves playing card and board games and, of course, hanging out with her cat, Goose.
