Michelle Sammon has been a practicing designer and design educator for fifteen years. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Design Studies from the School of Architecture and Design, University of Buffalo, and her Master of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from the School of Design, Rochester Institute of Technology where she was awarded the Outstanding Achievement Award in Graduate Graphic Design.
Michelle is a lecturer in Utica for the undergraduate CMD, IMGD and graduate IDT programs. She is also the community engagement coordinator at VIM - the Center for Visualization, Information Design and Game Media Studies in the College of Arts & Sciences, Utica. Created in January 2018, VIM's mission is to cultivate collaborations through the development of interactive media resources and gamification services to entrepreneurs and institutions in the Mohawk Valley and beyond. Michelle is also a freelance designer for many local businesses and organizations reflecting her commitment to community driven design solutions. Her research interests are in Service Learning, Data Visualization, and Urban Identity.
