Buffalo has the Bills. Syracuse has the Orange. Manhattan has Wall Street.
Albany has Alain Kaloyeros
Alain Kaloyeros is not your typical physics professor.
The Albany region is a metropolitan area of some 1.2 million people spread out over a collection of small cities. The community struggles with somewhat of an inferiority complex reflected in the phrase “Smallbany.”
Yet, the region always aspires to be more. In the past two decades, there was talk the region could become the next Silicon Valley.
In that time, those aspirations have rested more and more on Kaloyeros, the physics professor with a seemingly uncanny ability to make very big things happen.
Kaloyeros, of course, is a not a typical physics professor.
