Alain Kaloyeros, president and CEO of SUNY Polytechnic Institute, announced today an initiative to bring high-tech jobs and housing to the Hudson riverfront in the city of Rensselaer, New York, on a site that was previously pitched for a casino.

Kaloyeros, appearing alongside Rensselaer Mayor Dan Dwyer, explained how the initiative could impact the blue-collar city in a way similar to the transformation that has occurred across the river at the $20 billion SUNY Poly campus on the outskirts of Albany. Over the past 15 years, investments at the nanotech campus have created more than 3,500 science and research jobs.
