The SUNY Polytechnic Institute Nursing Program - in collaboration with the Alumni Association, the Nurse Practitioner Association Mohawk Valley, and the Mohawk Valley Health System - invites alumni, faculty, staff, and students to attend a screening of The American Nurse: Healing America on Wednesday, April 15.

The American Nurse is a heart-warming film that explores some of the biggest issues facing America - aging, war, poverty, prisons - through the work and lives of nurses. It is an examination of real people that will inform our understanding of nursing practice and how we wrestle with the challenges of healing America.

About the Melissa Saville Collver Scholarship Fund Melissa was a baccalaureate and master's graduate of SUNY Polytechnic Institute who passed away suddenly in May 2013. She left behind a young daughter and son.  She had been employed as a RN for Faxton St. Luke’s Healthcare and at the North Utica ACP Clinic at the time of her passing.

To commemorate her vibrant life, Melissa’s family has created a scholarship fund in her memory. To date, over $22,000.00 has been raised towards the $25,000.00 needed to permanently endow the Melissa Saville Collver Scholarship Fund. Once established, this fund would offer a renewable scholarship award that would pay for 25% of full-time tuition for a nursing student in Melissa’s name for perpetuity.

To make a gift to the Melissa Saville Collver Scholarship Fund, please visit www.sunypoly.edu/theamericannurse or contact the Foundation at (315) 792-7273.
