Assured Information Security to Sponsor Free Youth Drone Soccer Bootcamp at SUNY Poly on August 10-13
UTICA, NY – A U.S. Drone Soccer Bootcamp offered by CNY Drones August 10-13 from 12:30-4:30 p.m. as part of the SUNY Polytechnic Institute (SUNY Poly) Spotlight Series, is free for all participants again this year, thanks to the generosity of Rome-based Assured Information Security (AIS).
“This program gives students an exciting opportunity to explore advanced drone technology while developing valuable STEM skills through hands-on experience,” said Charles Green, CEO at AIS and a SUNY Poly alum. “AIS is proud to support this camp for a third consecutive year as part of our ongoing commitment to fostering the next generation of innovators, engineers, and problem-solvers. We believe experiences like this spark curiosity, build confidence, and help students see the real-world impact they can make through STEM.”
The action-packed Official U.S. Drone Soccer Association STEM program, open to kids 12-18 years old, blends robotics, aviation, and competitive team play. The immersive build program goes beyond the ordinary, teaching students the basics of a team drone build, programming, and flying strategy using professional-grade drones in a 5 vs. 5 full-contact aerial sport. Aspiring engineers will gain hands-on experience working in pairs, collaborating with teammates to solve engineering challenges and engaging in team flight operations within a secure, netted enclosure. Designed originally at SUNY Poly, the program is now offered throughout the country, with New York leading the way, offering it for the third summer in a row.
The bootcamp allows 20 participants and is first-come, first-served.

“We sincerely appreciate AIS’s continued investment in STEM education through its partnership with SUNY Poly,” said John Reade, Director of Pre-Collegiate Outreach. “Programs like this help students develop teamwork, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills that are essential for success in both college and the workforce. By working together to overcome challenges, students build confidence, strengthen interpersonal skills, and gain exposure to exciting career opportunities in emerging technologies.”
The drone soccer bootcamp is just one experience offered this summer in the SUNY Poly Spotlight Series, a robust collection of events, workshops, and camps for all ages. Showcasing the expertise of faculty and community members, the series provides opportunities for fun and learning in the areas of STEM, the arts, athletics, wellness, and more.
