SUNY Polytechnic Institute (SUNY Poly), in partnership with Empire State Development, today announced that a team of the institution’s leading researchers, complemented by scientists from a number of SUNY Poly’s corporate partners, will play a significant role in the globally recognized SEMICON West 2016 conference taking place in San Francisco, California. With its attendance, SUNY Poly will mark its 10th year exhibiting at SEMICON West by showcasing its world-class capabilities and unparalleled innovation-based photonics, semiconductor, and photovoltaic-focused know-how to an industry-centric global audience.

During this year’s engagement, SUNY Poly will present progress reports for a number of initiatives that it is spearheading in New York State, including updates on the American Institute for Manufacturing Integrated Photonics (AIM Photonics), which will showcase a state-of-the-art 300mm silicon photonics wafer, and the New York Power Electronics Manufacturing Consortium (NY-PEMC), as well as a panel discussion regarding the integration of solar technologies into the internet of things (IoT) at the concurrently held Intersolar North America exhibition and conference.

Governor Andrew Cuomo has ushered in a new era in New York State, and its foundation is his innovative model for economic development which has spurred incredible growth of the state’s high-tech ecosystem. This is why Empire State Development is excited to partner with SUNY Poly at SEMICON West to share how advanced global technology companies can be a part of New York State’s economic renaissance. We are eager to share with SEMICON West attendees how New York State’s targeted approach to grow its innovation economy has given rise to a unique model for research, development, and commercialization in the power electronics, photonics, and clean energy arenas.

Empire State Development President, CEO & Commissioner Howard Zemsky.

“SUNY Poly is thrilled to showcase its pivotal role in Governor Andrew Cuomo’s high-tech economic blueprint for New York State through this partnership with Empire State Development at SEMICON West 2016, where SUNY Poly is marking its 10th year as an exhibitor. In addition, we are pleased to continue our leadership role at Intersolar North America, which underscores SUNY Poly’s impact in a number of innovation sectors, including integrated photonics, power electronics, and solar energy,” said SUNY Poly President and CEO Dr. Alain Kaloyeros. “SUNY Poly’s world-class technology hubs offer incredible opportunities for potential partners in a variety of advanced areas, and as the institution’s public-private partnership model inspires further clustering of leading high-tech corporations and organizations across New York State, we are proud to share SUNY Poly’s story at SEMICON West and Intersolar North America.”
