CANANDAIGUA, NY – The Colleges of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CNSE) at SUNY Polytechnic Institute today announced that its Smart System Technology & Commercialization Center (STC) has successfully recertified as having an effective ISO 9001:2008 quality management system in place. This certification acknowledges STC’s strong customer focus, the motivation and implication of top management, the process approach and continual improvement. The scope of this registration covers the design, development, fabrication and packaging of micro electromechanical systems (MEMS) and semiconductor devices.

CNSE’s STC is a world-class 150mm and 200mm MEMS foundry that works with customers to commercialize MEMS and semiconductor technologies targeting the defense, healthcare, telecommunications, energy and consumer electronics industries. The Center is the only source for MEMS integration accredited with the Defense Microelectronics Activity’s (DMEA) Trusted Foundry program that can reliably and repeatedly produce low to mid-volume MEMS devices. The Center is also a Trusted Supplier for packaging, assembly, and aggregation services with the DMEA.

CNSE’s STC originally gained ISO 9001:2008 certification in January, 2012, as it has worked to forge new and expanded partnerships with commercial entities that require a formal quality management system to be in use. ISO 9001:2008 was also a requirement for the Center’s Trusted Foundry accreditation. The facility’s current registration will be up for future renewal in November 2017.
