The SUNYIT community mourns the loss of student Matt Gorka from Clifton Park, who died unexpectedly Saturday. A junior mechanical engineering technology major, Matt had transferred to SUNYIT after attending Hudson Valley Community College. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, 4 to 8 p.m., at the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Route 9, Clifton Park. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 13, 10 a.m., at Our Lady of Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Latham. In lieu of flowers, an education trust fund is being set up for the benefit of Matt’s two children. Memorials may be sent to Timothy Joslyn, 27 Hillcrest Road, Latham, NY, 12110.  Grief counseling for members of the campus community who knew Matt is available at the Counseling Center, Oriskany Hall Suite B, 792-7172.
