ITS Help Desk Student Assistant Openings Spring 2014!
The ITS Help Desk is looking to hire enthusiastic students that consider themselves resourceful, good problem solvers, and quick learners. We are looking for people who enjoy working with and helping people, and are ready to learn valuable skills.
Who are we...
The ITS Help Desk provides computer support to the SUNYIT
community via phone, in person, email as well as via our remote
support solution. Students will have the opportunity to be
challenged every day, learn new things, help students and
co-workers with questions, and interact in an exciting
atmosphere.
Your role…
Help Desk student assistants have the opportunity to do
everything that the Help Desk does, including answering
questions over the phone, by e-mail as well as helping people
who come in to the Help Desk with all their computer and account
needs. Help Desk student assistants also have the
opportunity to participate in projects such as software testing,
technical documentation, and computer imaging.
We provide training in the various areas that we support, and the knowledge we provide you will be practical and useful in the future. In return, we ask that you bring your experience, knowledge, opinions, problem solving, troubleshooting, and ideas about customer service, to help us to provide the best computer support possible.
In general, we're looking for people who...
- Are energetic and enthusiastic about working on and learning
about computers
- Have strong communication and customer service skills
- Have strong and varied technical backgrounds in PCs,
Macintosh or Linux
- Are about two years or more away from graduation
- Can work 5-15 hours a week (it's possible to work up to 37.5
hours/week during breaks, though not required)
- Weekend availability is a plus
The Help Desk is located on the first floor of the Cayan Library. We are open seven days a week.
