Researcher and author Brian Wansink will deliver the annual Psi Chi lecture at SUNYIT April 18 starting at 12:30 p.m. in Kunsela Lecture Hall. Wansink is the Director of the Cornell Food and Brand Lab and the John Dyson Professor of Marketing at Cornell University, Ithaca. The presentation is open to the public.

Best known for his work on consumer behavior and food, Wansink is the author of "Mindless Eating: Why We Eat More Than We Think." The 2010 book describes how people who make more mindful food-related decisions can eat and live better. During a leave from Cornell, Wansink served as executive director of the Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion in Washington D.C., leading the development of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s 2010 Dietary Guidelines. He holds the following degrees: Ph.D. in consumer behavior, Stanford University; M.A., Drake University; and a B.S. from Wayne State College.

Founded more than 70 years ago, Psi Chi is the national honor society in psychology. Its purpose is to encourage, stimulate, and maintain excellence in scholarship, and advance the science of psychology. SUNYIT’s Psi Chi chapter is one of more than 930 chapters on college and university campuses across the U.S.
