Job Description:

MTA Bridges and Tunnels is seeking candidates for its Management Associates Program within the Engineering and

Construction Department. The Department is seeking candidates interested in project management, design management,

project controls, estimating or quality management. Individuals selected will work alongside experienced managers,

receive on-the-job, and formal training so as to acquire fundamental knowledge in these areas. As a Management

Associate, you will work in the Engineering and Construction Department, a professional environment where various

projects and processes related to the design and construction of Bridges, Tunnels, supporting facilities, and other critical

systems and infrastructure are managed. The individuals selected will learn, in a mentored environment, to apply his/her

knowledge to MTA B&T Capital, Major Maintenance and Superstorm Sandy Recovery and Resiliency Program Projects.

There will be a series of assignments as part of the development and training period, as well as the opportunity to interact

with other operating and support departments.

The term of the Management Associates Program is two years with the possibility of extending to an additional year.

The goal of the program is developing individuals selected with the knowledge and skills needed to compete for a position

within the MTA.

Successful candidates will have an opportunity to:

• Gain an understanding of general project management, procedures, protocols and controls with respect to project

coordination, administration, scheduling, estimating, and all aspects of project management through on the job training.

• Observe and gain an understanding of project management within MTA Bridges and Tunnels and the transportation

industry.

• Participate in developing, planning, reviewing, and coordinating elements of MTA B&T Force Account and Third Party Contract

work for MTA Bridges and Tunnels under its Capital and Major Maintenance Programs.

• Learn and participate in design, estimating and pre-construction activities. Review specifications and drawings,

maintain files of documents, and assist in the preparation of reports, presentations, research, and studies.

• Learn and participate in coordinating scheduling of all types and assist in the preparation of estimates.

• Assist in the development of office and field project controls related systems.

• Assist in maintaining liaison between project management team members and internal Authority departments & disciplines.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

• Master Degree or Bachelor of Science in Engineering/Construction/Project Management or other related field. Please

note: Must have graduated within the past 18 months or be graduating by June 30, 2015.

• Must possess a minimum 2.7 GPA or above.

• Must possess ability to be self-motivated, and wiliness to assume a high degree of responsibility.

• Must be willing to adhere to policies concerning attendance at work and all rules and regualtions of the agency

• Must have Advanced knowledge of MS Office Software.

Preferred/Desirable:

• Prior related work experience, internships, etc.

• Pursuing a Professional Engineer's License (FE/EIT).

• Pursuing a CMAA Construction Manager Certification (CMIT)

• Prior construction, design or project coordination experience.
