News Release: SUNY Poly Earns Top 10 NYS Public Ranking from U.S. News & World Report
UTICA, NY – U.S. News & World Report recently released their 2024 Best Colleges rankings, with SUNY Polytechnic Institute (SUNY Poly) continuing to earn impressive numbers in several categories. This includes being in the top 10 of New York State publics ranked in the “Top Public Schools Regional Universities-North” category. SUNY Poly is also positioned in the top 15 percent of the 167 schools ranked in the “Regional Universities-North” category.
“These rankings further reflect SUNY Poly’s academic strengths as a premier public polytechnic,” said Officer-in-Charge Dr. Andrew Russell. “Our dedicated faculty and staff work tirelessly to create the best possible experience for our students, while also equipping them with the tools needed to enter the workforce and be civic leaders in their communities.”
For the eighth consecutive year, SUNY Poly earned a top 10 “Best Colleges for Veterans Regional Universities-North” ranking, which is significant given the university’s close proximity to both the Air Force Research Laboratory in Rome, New York, and the U.S. Army’s Fort Drum military reservation. Also notable is SUNY Poly moving up 30 spots in the nationwide “Best Undergraduate Nursing Programs” category.
“The passion to provide a top-tier education to our students is evident in the faculty I converse with daily,” said Interim Provost Dr. Mark Montgomery. “Furthermore, as an alum of this institution, I have experienced the value of a SUNY Poly education firsthand. We continue to take great pride in the plethora of educational programs and research opportunities available to our students in a number of disciplines. Most importantly, we remain highly affordable, breaking down barriers and helping more people achieve their educational and career goals.”
The annual rankings by U.S. News and World Report categorize colleges and universities based upon their Carnegie Classification, created by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. U.S. News & World Report maintains different ranking categories, each with different weights assigned to them to determine the final institution positions. These categories include student outcomes, peer assessment, faculty resources, social mobility, graduate indebtedness, student resources and student selectivity.
