The SUNY Polytechnic Institute of Technology women’s lacrosse team will get its shot at a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) title.

After falling behind 6-3 early in the second half, SUNY Poly scored seven straight goals and advanced to Sunday afternoon’s NEAC tournament championship game with a 10-8 victory over Morrisville State College in one of Saturday’s semifinals at Cazenovia College.

SUNY Poly’s third-seeded Wildcats (12-3) play tournament host and top-seeded Cazenovia (11-5) at 1 p.m. Sunday. Cazenovia beat Medaille College 9-5.

Junior midfielder Krysta Beha (Marcy/Whitesboro), the NEAC Offensive Player of the Year and SUNY Poly’s leading scorer, had three goals, one assist and eight groundballs.

Senior midfielder Meghan Serota also had three goals and one assist, Corrina Marconi scored twice, and Mariana Ames had a goal and three assists for the Wildcats.

SUNY Poly goalie Megan Will (Remsen) made eight saves.

Second-seeded Morrisville State finished the season 9-9. Jenna Harris, Courtney Cavellier and Angela Marriott had two goals each for the Mustangs, who edged SUNY Poly 10-9 in a regular-season game on April 29.

SUNY Poly now plays for the title against a Cazenovia team the Wildcats knocked off 7-6 in overtime on April 30.
