MARCY — Freshmen reporting to the new Hilltop Residence Hall on the SUNY Polytechnic Institute campus were greeted Thursday by COVID-19 screeners and mask-wearing students wheeling carts for hauling stuff up to dorm rooms. The scene was uncrowded and efficient as students and no more than two helpers used the elevators in the new, carbon-neutral dorm to roll their possessions upstairs. Whereas faculty and staff normally turn out to help, the process was a bit slower this year, interim President Grace Wang said as she took a break from greeting families.
