Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer Touts CHIPS Act Opportunities in Visit to SUNY Poly
SUNY Poly was proud to host Sen. Majority Leader Charles Schumer as he touted how the region and New York State are “on the precipice of a major transformation” because of the CHIPS Act, which he authored, and the resultant semiconductor investments across New York.
“Most importantly, we have a robust workforce training pipeline because we have places like SUNY Poly here,” said Sen. Schumer before a tour of SUNY Poly's Center for Global Advanced Manufacturing, led by Interim Dean of the College of Engineering Dr. Michael Carpenter. There, students gain first-hand experience with 3D printers, for example.
He also highlighted partner MVCC, in addition to the strong public-private collaborations that have contributed to the rapidly expanding high-tech ecosystem, what he called the "21st Century Erie Canal."
