Statement by SUNY Poly Interim President Dr. Bahgat Sammakia on Repeal of DACA
“I strongly echo the sentiments of Governor Andrew Cuomo, SUNY Chairman H. Carl McCall and Chancellor Kristina Johnson—and the sentiments of many New Yorkers—as we support our students and the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. At SUNY Poly, we remain committed to protecting the confidentiality of our students and back New York State’s efforts to keep the American Dream alive for the state’s 42,000 DACA enrollees. I also urge any students who have questions about DACA to contact SUNY Poly’s Coordinator of International Admissions & Student Services Tze Teck Sim at tsim@sunypoly.edu for more information, as we steadfastly value diversity and work toward a more inclusive society underpinned by equity.”
