UTICA – SUNY Polytechnic Institute (SUNY Poly) and Mohawk Valley Community College (MVCC) held a ceremony at MVCC’s thINCubator Friday, March 29, announcing an expanded “Path to Poly” collaborative agreement that significantly builds upon an existing partnership between the two institutions. The expanded transfer paths will allow students graduating from MVCC to easily continue their education at SUNY Poly.

“This expanded partnership is an important message to students that we want the best possible future for them,” said MVCC President Randall J. VanWagoner. “By creating this ‘Path to Poly,’ we’re helping students get an exceptional, affordable education toward in-demand careers in their own backyards.”

“For decades, SUNY Poly and MVCC have enjoyed a collaborative, institutional partnership through which we constantly seek new ways to improve student access to a quality education here in the Mohawk Valley,” said SUNY Poly Interim President Dr. Grace Wang. “This institutional agreement is a prime example of our ongoing efforts to share our rich, educational resources while helping students more easily obtain their future goals.”

Under the expanded agreement, qualified graduating students from every program at MVCC are encouraged to discover their “Path to Poly.” Over 50 paths have been created or updated, allowing MVCC students to earn a bachelor’s degree at SUNY Poly in two years or four semesters. This expanded agreement is just one of several Paths to Poly for MVCC students, which also includes a dual admissions program.

Significantly, this expanded “Path to Poly” program also provides students with support throughout their time enrolled at MVCC, including dedicated staff members who will guide students through the registration and enrollment processes. Students who enroll at MVCC beginning in the Fall 2019 semester will be able to follow the new advising guides to pursue this updated option.
