SUNY Polytechnic Institute (SUNY Poly) recently hosted a Fluid Power Industry & Career Event, bringing students and industry professionals together to explore career pathways, internship opportunities, and the role of fluid power technology in today's workforce.

Held September 29 in Kunsela Hall, the event was organized in collaboration with the SUNY Poly Fluid Power Club and sponsored by the National Fluid Power Association (NFPA). The program featured an industry panel discussion, networking opportunities, and a career fair where students could connect with professionals and learn about potential internships and full-time employment.

SUNY Poly's Office of Workforce Development also participated in the event, engaging with students to discuss career readiness, professional development, and opportunities to gain practical experience through internships and industry connections.

The event highlighted SUNY Poly's role as an NFPA Power Partner, reflecting the university's commitment to strengthening connections between higher education and the fluid power industry. Through the partnership, SUNY Poly supports student engagement, hands-on educational experiences, industry collaboration, and career exploration.

"Partnerships like this help bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world industry experience," said Dr. Ahmed Abdelaal, SUNY Poly Assistant Professor and faculty advisor to the Fluid Power Club. "By connecting students with industry professionals and providing opportunities for hands-on learning, we're helping them develop the skills, knowledge, and relationships needed to succeed in their future careers."

The SUNY Poly Fluid Power Club plays an important role in connecting students with the field, providing opportunities to explore fluid power technologies, engage with industry professionals, and develop skills relevant to careers in engineering and advanced manufacturing.

Beyond events such as the September 29 career fair, the NFPA partnership provides opportunities for student involvement in educational initiatives, technical competitions, and other activities that help bridge classroom learning with practical applications.

Through these efforts, SUNY Poly continues to strengthen industry partnerships and expand opportunities for students to gain practical experience while preparing for careers in engineering, technology, and advanced manufacturing.
