SUNY Poly to Host the 130th Topical Symposium of the NYS Section of the American Physical Society
SUNY Polytechnic Institute will host the 130th Topical Symposium of the New York State Section of the American Physical Society (APS) on Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. in Kunsela Hall. This year’s symposium, themed Advances in Computational Physics and the Physics of Computation, will bring together leading researchers and students to explore cutting-edge developments at the intersection of physics and computation.
The symposium will cover a broad range of topics, including advances in numerical many-body and gravitational physics, fundamental physical limits on classical and quantum computation, and the physics behind neural networks and deep learning. It will also feature a keynote address by Physics Professor Simon Catterall of Syracuse University, who will present on Lattice Quantum Field Theory: Current Successes and Future Challenges.
In addition to oral presentations, the event will include a poster session where students are encouraged to present their research. Awards will be given for the best poster presentations at the graduate, undergraduate, and high school levels, and travel grants are available for students traveling from outside the Utica/Syracuse region.
The registration deadline for the symposium is October 21, 2024. For more information and to register, visit nyssaps.org. Poster abstract submissions and travel grant applications are due by October 19, 2024.
Students presenting a poster can attend free of charge, and attendees do not need to be members of the APS to participate.
Join us at SUNY Poly for a day of discovery, collaboration, and recognition of excellence in computational physics and beyond!
