SUNY Poly to Host Health Sciences Week November 17-22
UTICA, NY – SUNY Polytechnic Institute’s (SUNY Poly) College of Health Sciences (COHS) invites students, faculty, staff, and community members to take part in Health Sciences Week, a weeklong celebration of education, research, and collaboration across the health professions. From November 17–22, 2025, a dynamic lineup of events will showcase how SUNY Poly is advancing health innovation, education, and community impact across New York State.
Throughout the week, participants can engage in interactive presentations, research showcases, and professional panels that explore the intersection of health, technology, and society. Topics will span public health, behavioral health, health informatics, nursing, and the future of healthcare delivery.
“Health Sciences Week is an opportunity to highlight the remarkable work of our students, faculty, alumni, and partners who are helping to shape the future of health and wellness,” said Dr. Mark Kittleson, Dean of the College of Health Sciences. “Through education, research, and collaboration, we’re preparing the next generation of healthcare professionals to meet the needs of our communities with innovation, compassion, and excellence.”

• Public Health Presentation, Monday, Nov. 17 at 7 p.m.
“Services Provided to Local Communities by County Health Departments in New York State”
Presented by Dr. Daniel Gilmore, Director of the Oneida County Health Department, this session explores how local health departments serve communities and collaborate with state agencies to improve public health outcomes.
• The State of Childhood and Adolescent Health: A Call to Action, Thursday, Nov. 20 at 8:30 a.m.
Moderated by Adam Palmer, Vice President of the Oneida County Youth Coalition, this event invites educators, clinicians, and community leaders to discuss strategies for promoting student mental health and well-being.
• The Future of Technology in Health Care (Panel Discussion): Thursday, Nov. 20 at 2 p.m.
Hosted by SUNY Poly’s Dr. Jim Staihar, this hybrid panel brings together experts in medicine, informatics, and engineering—including Dr. Jacque Kpodonu (Harvard University) and SUNY Poly’s Drs. Nic DePaula, Yu Zhou and Amir Manzourolajdad —to explore how AI, robotics, and data innovation are reshaping care delivery.
In addition, attendees can enjoy presentations by SUNY Poly alumni, a Doctor of Nursing Practice Symposium (November 22), and a College Recognition at the SUNY Poly Women’s Basketball home game against SUNY Canton on November 18. For a full schedule of the week’s events, click here.
All events are free and open to the campus community. This exciting week is part of a broader year-long initiative. Throughout the 2025–26 academic year, SUNY Poly will also spotlight its College of Arts and Sciences and College of Engineering, ensuring that each division has the opportunity to highlight its impact, partnerships, and contributions. College of Business Week kicked off the celebration in September, followed by Research and Innovation Week in October.
