SUNY Polytechnic Institute Notification of Delays and Cancellations Due to Weather

In the event that inclement weather leads to the decision to delay or cancel all classes at either or both of SUNY Polytechnic Institute’s campuses, we wanted to clarify where students, faculty, and staff will be able to find out the latest information. Please keep in mind that while SUNY Poly leadership and individual professors may cancel classes, only the governor can close SUNY Poly’s Albany and/or Utica campuses.

Albany Campus: · A notice will be placed on the website’s homepage as well as the news release page and social media accounts, including Facebook and Twitter, and updated accordingly.

· The cancellation notice will be e-mailed to the SUNY Poly community.

· Morning updates should be provided by 6 a.m. Decisions related to afternoon classes (after 12:00 noon) should be provided by 9 a.m., and decisions related to evening classes (after 4 p.m.) should be provided by 1:00 p.m. when possible.

· Albany area media will publicize the notice, including Time Warner Cable News, the Times Union and its website, WFLY-FLY 92, WGY, WNYT-TV, WRGB-TV, WTEN-TV, WRVE-The River, WYJB-B 95.5, and WXXA.

Utica Campus: · A notice will be placed on the website’s homepageas well as the news release page and social media accounts, including Facebook and Twitter, and updated accordingly. In addition, students, faculty, and staff can click on the red “C” icon in the website’s footer which links to the cancelled classes page.

· The cancellation notice will be e-mailed to the SUNY Poly community.

· Individual professors may also cancel their own classes when needed, and this information is updated on the same page as is listed above.

· You may also call the Snow Phone Line at (315) 792-7385, which provides information on classes being cancelled.
