GlobalFoundries says adding IBM sites gives new lead in technology
Malta
The owners of GlobalFoundries, which runs a computer microchip fabrication plant in Malta, Saratoga County, said Wednesday that its acquisition of IBM's chip-making business allows it to take the lead in chip technology and manufacturing.
"This significantly expands our skill base," said Brian Harrison, senior vice president of integration and factory management at GlobalFoundries, during a conference call with reporters at the former IBM chip plant in Essex Junction, near Burlington, Vt.
