First it was a high school. Then it was to be a residential, retail and office development with a marina, called De Laet’s Landing. Then it was to be a Hard Rock Casino.

Today, SUNY Polytechnic Institute President and CEO Alain Kaloyeros and Rensselaer Mayor Daniel Dwyer will lead a tour of the vacant waterfront lot where the Rensselaer High School once stood. The media have been invited to tag along on what’s being billed as a “tour of waterfront development opportunities,” and my colleague Larry Rulison will report from the scene.
