Average apartment rent climbed 5.4 percent last year in Capital Region

Apartment rents in the Capital Region are rising faster than ever as the supply of new units trails surging demand.
The average rent climbed 5.4 percent last year, according to a new report from Sunrise Management & Consulting.
That's nearly four times the 1.4 percent increase of the year before.
Average monthly rent climbed to $1,350 for an apartment that averaged 1,285 square feet.
