Times Union: SUNY Poly, Israeli consortium sign $2.9 million
deal
SUNY Polytechnic Institute in Albany has signed a $2.9 million research and development agreement with Metro450, the Israeli computer chip manufacturing equipment consortium that focuses on accuracy of manufacturing specs, or metrology.
Metrology is the science of making sure that each silicon wafer that goes through a computer chip factory is processed correctly and without defects. Individual chips are made onto the wafers, which measure 300 millimeters across.
