SUNY Polytechnic Institute has gone from relative obscurity to No. 18 on the list of regional Northeast universities in the U.S. News & World Report college rankings this year.
SUNY Poly, formed in 2014 with the merger of the University at Albany's Colleges of Nanoscale Science and Engineering with SUNY IT in Utica, jumped from No. 122 on the list of regional universities in the Northeast to No. 18 in the U.S. News & Report rankings, released Tuesday. The school has 2,792 students.
