School is tops in the nation for corporate-backed R&D
Albany
In academic halls in Durham, N.C. and Cambridge, Mass., someone is probably taking Alain Kaloyeros’ name in vain.
The National Science Foundation says SUNY Polytechnic Institute in Albany has become the top university in the country for corporate-sponsored research and development. It has surpassed Duke University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, which previously held the top two spots in the category.
SUNY Poly, which was founded by Kaloyeros, who is also its president, had $202 million in corporate research spending during the academic year that ended June 30, 2013, according to data released last week by the NSF.
