A panel discussion about Albany's rich immigrant history will be hosted Thursday by WAMC's Alan Chartock, one of several events in the city's monthlong A City of Immigrants celebration.

The 60-minute live broadcast, which is free, starts at 1 p.m. at the Linda, WAMC's Performing Arts Studio, 339 Central Ave. Panelists will include the Times Union's Paul Grondahl, whose continuing coverage of Albany's immigrant population coincides with Albany Pro Musica's month of events marking A City of Immigrants, which is sponsored by Bank of America.

Events will include a special concert at 4 p.m. April 3 at Troy Savings Bank Music Hall and other events that explore and pay tribute to the cultural heritage of the Capital Region.

For Thursday's panel discussion, WAMC Northeast Public Radio is partnering with the Times Union. Other panelists will be Maseeh Mukhtar, an immigrant from Afghanistan and a Ph.D. student in nanotechnology at SUNY Polytechnic; and Uzma Popal, an immigrant from Pakistan and director of the Muslim Soup Kitchen project.

Tickets for the forum can be reserved online at  http://www.thelinda.org/event/city-of-immigrants-a-special-conversation/
