In 2015, it was announced that Austrian-based semiconductor company AMS would invest $2 billion to build a chip fabrication plant on SUNY Polytechnic Institute’s campus, something that’s expected to be fully equipped by September 2017. It’s expected to employ about 1,500 people.

It’s not just consumers who are feeling optimistic about the future — it’s businesses themselves who are experiencing a change for the better, according to a series of independent interviews with small business owners and retail officials.
