Utica Observer-Dispatch: College Notebook: National volleyball honor for SUNY Poly's Eberley

SUNY Polytechnic Institute senior Morgan Eberley (Utica/Whitesboro) led her women’s volleyball team to four more victories last week – extending the Wildcats’ winning streak to 16 matches – and Tuesday the outside hitter was named the national NCAA Division III Player of the Week by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA).

During SUNY Poly’s 4-0 week, the 5-foot-6 Eberley had 62 kills, a .343 hitting percentage, 44 digs, six aces and five assists. She averaged 4.77 kills per set and her 17 kills, .412 hitting percentage and eight digs helped the Wildcats to a 3-0 sweep over Hamilton College.

Later in the week, Eberley had a career-high 24 kills, 18 digs, three assists and a pair of aces in a dramatic 3-2 win over Plattsburgh State.

Eberley, also honored by the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) as its Player of the Week, ended the period as the NEAC leader in kills (223), kills per set (3.78), points (255) and points per set (4.3).

Eberley and SUNY Poly sophomore Megan Will (Remsen) have helped the Wildcats go 6-0 in the league and 16-2 overall, and they play at Utica College at 7 p.m. today.
