Utica Observer-Dispatch: Newly appointed SUNY campus presidents

I wanted to share with you the following article that was published by the Utica Observer-Dispatch:

 

The SUNY Board of Trustees Tuesday announced four new SUNY campus president appointments, two of which fall within the Mohawk Valley.

It was a busy day Tuesday for the State University of New York Board of Trustees as they appointed not one, but four new presidents to SUNY campuses from Geneseo to Cobleskill. Two of those appointments — Alain Kaloyeros to SUNY Polytechnic Institute and Cathleen McColgin to Herkimer County Community College — fall within the Mohawk Valley.

 

Alain Kaloyeros For Kaloyeros, SUNY Poly’s founding president, the goal is to establish SUNY Poly as “the affordable public MIT of New York.”

That means making moves that will lead to more high-quality research and technology transfer and will build up existing academic programs in both its Utica and Albany campuses. Focusing on those areas, Kaloyeros said, will drive “statewide economic vibrancy.”
