Dr. Alain Kaloyeros, president and CEO of SUNY Polytechnic and architect of the nano initiative, expects the local job market to come into better balance.

“As SUNY Poly has witnessed at its other sites around the state, leading and innovative technology companies are going to be eager to relocate or expand here,” he said “ It’s already begun with the recent announcements from GE and AMS. There are lots of qualified people out there in the Mohawk Valley looking for work right now and the growth of nano here will create new employment opportunities for them.

“We’ll definitely see increased demand for workers and we may very well experience a ‘sellers’ market” at some point,” Kaloyeros said. “But keep in mind; you have SUNY Poly here, which is graduating some of the best and brightest students who are ready to enter a high tech workforce.”
