The Chenango Forks School District is being recognized for adding an arts program to the classic STEM model, or science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Chenango Forks uses a model called the STEAM Academy, with the "A" standing for art.

Chenango Forks was one of only three districts honored statewide.

The award, called "Be the Change for Kids," was given Thursday by the SUNY Polytechnic Institute and the New York State School Boards Association (NYSSBA).
