WKTV: TRASH TREK Championship at SUNY POLY this weekend
I wanted to share with you an article published by WKTV:
MARCY, NY - Students ages 9 to 14 from across New York competed in the Regional Robotics Championships at SUNY POLY in Marcy on Saturday.
It's all part of the First Lego League "TRASH TREK" challenge.
Each year a challenge is issued to teams based on a real-world scientific topic. This year...what to do with your trash.
"These kids, in a very fun way, get a taste of what it's like to be a hard working, deadline oriented, technology using professional." says Elizabeth Rossi, the K-12 outreach director at SUNY POLY.
On Sunday, the older students get their turn, participating in the "Res-Q" challenge.
Here they will design, program and deploy robots to compete in mountain rescue style missions.
The event is free and open to the public.
