ALBANY--March 14th is Pi Day in honor of the irrational number that represents the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter, 3.14

SUNY Polytechnic Institute has started a new tradition, with a fleet of "Pi Patrol" vehicles delivering educational Pi-themed activities and pizza pies to students at local middle schools.

The "Pi Patrol" visited Mont Pleasant Middle School in Schenectady, Troy Middle School and William S. Hackett Middle School in Albany.

"We want to share and nurture a love of science and engineering and math among our region's students because certainly there are a number of career opportunities that are flourishing not only in our capital region but across New York State and it's very important that we educate these students about those opportunities," said Diana Dumesnil.
