College of Arts and Sciences: Research-Active Faculty

The College of Arts and Sciences at SUNY Polytechnic Institute advances an interdisciplinary portfolio of research and creative works spanning the natural and physical sciences, mathematics, social sciences, humanities, and the arts. Faculty scholarship connects scientific inquiry, social understanding, artistic expression, and technological innovation — exploring human behavior and biological systems; the cultural and societal dimensions of communication and migration; and the frontiers of digital media, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. Together, these efforts foster integrative, human-centered work that addresses complex challenges at the intersection of science, society, culture, and technology.

Dr. Megan Dischiavo, of Biology and Chemistry, works with students in a lab Dr. Kathryn Stam, cultural anthropologist, collaborates with Bhutanese-Nepali refugees at an organic farm in Sauquoit, NY Professor and digital artist Nick LeJeune presents his solo exhibition “Indiscrete Entities” at the Gannett Gallery

Faculty are grouped below by primary research area, based on published research topics from SUNY Research Connect and faculty or lab websites. Faculty whose work spans multiple areas are listed under each relevant area.
