Mission
The mission of the CvET program at SUNY Poly is to provide quality undergraduate studies in CvET. The goals of the program are to prepare students to enter professional careers and graduate study, and to find employment in their field after graduation. The program values and encourages academic and intellectual achievement of the highest quality and the technical competencies inherent to the field of CvET. The faculty are committed to the integration of these elements into a coherent program of higher education.

Program Educational Objectives
The core educational objectives of the CvET program are to collaborate with industry, business, government, and other academic institutions to ensure that graduates:

  • Have applied engineering skills necessary to obtain gainful employment in their chosen professional field and the ability to progress to higher levels of responsibility.
  • Are equipped with practical problem-solving and hands-on skills rooted in the fundamental areas of CvET.
  • Are committed to professional development such as continuing education, professional societies, and/or professional registration.

Student Outcomes
CvETgraduates will demonstrate the ability to:

  • apply knowledge, techniques, skills and modern tools of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to solve broadly-defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline;
  • design systems, components, or processes meeting specified needs for broadly-defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline;
  • apply written, oral, and graphical communication in broadly-defined technical and non-technical environments; and an ability to identify and use appropriate technical literature;
  • conduct standard tests, measurements, and experiments and to analyze and interpret the results to improve processes; and
  • function effectively as a member as well as a leader on technical teams.
