"Rep. Brandon Williams, R-22, Sennett, has thrown his support behind the Building Chips in America Act of 2023, a bill that would expand opportunities for manufacturers to build semiconductor manufacturing plants in the U.S. while maintaining environmental protections."
"NY-22 is quickly becoming a semiconductor manufacturing hub, with the last year’s opening of Wolfspeed’s Marcy plant, the first and largest 200-mm silicon carbide chip fabrication facility, and Micron’s decision to open a memory chip fab in Clay, which is near Syracuse.
"Wolfspeed has pledged to create over 600 new jobs within the first eight years of operation; within a year, the company has already hired over 350 people. Wolfspeed is also investing in the area by creating a $2 million scholarship program at SUNY Polytechnic Institute."
