Observer-Dispatch: Women’s lacrosse honors for SUNY Poly’s Will

SUNY Polytechnic Institute senior goaltender Megan Will (Remsen) was named the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Defensive Player of the Week after making 24 saves in her first two starts of the season - a 19-3 win over Alfred University and a 12-7 win over Houghton College. Teammate Mari Ames of Carthage was named the NEAC Offensive Player of the Week after collecting seven goals and nine assists in those two games.

Will, who had a 9-3 record as a sophomore but did not play lacrosse last year, had 20 saves against Houghton College. Kristin Deuel (Whitesboro had three goals and eight ground balls and Jenny Maxam (Clinton) scored twice for the Wildcats.

Maxam scored four goals and Nakeya Stedman (Sauquoit/Sauquoit Valley) had a goal and an assist in the win over Alfred. SUNY Poly hosts Medaille College at 1 p.m. Saturday.
