President Soboyejo Meets With President Paul Kagame of Rwanda
SUNY Polytechnic Institute President Dr. Winston Soboyejo recently led a distinguished delegation from the African Materials Research Society (AMRS) and the African Renaissance Institute for Science and Technology (ARIST) in a meeting with President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, that was held in Kigali, Rwanda. The delegation, which included AMRS Board Chair Dr. Soboyejo, Nobel Laureate Frances Arnold and 14 other delegates from the AMRS and ARIST, discussed the establishment of an African Center for Materials and Advanced Manufacturing in Rwanda.
Prof. Soboyejo also presented a plenary talk along with Dr. Tabiri Asumadu (SUNY Poly post-doctoral researcher), who presented an invited talk at the 12th AMRS, which was attended by two Nobel Laureates and over 350 leading scientists, engineers, researchers, students, industrialists, and professors from Africa, Europe, North America, and Asia, who met in Kigali to explore the conference theme of Materials for African Development.
