Governor Kathy Hochul recently announced that 14 State University of New York campuses are investing nearly $10 million in annual state funding to expand their research capacity. The funding was secured through the 2023-24 state budget’s historic $163 million increase in direct operating aid to SUNY’s state-operated campuses.

“I am committed to building the best public higher education system in the country right here in New York State," Governor Hochul said in the release. "Through this $10 million investment, SUNY campuses are expanding research opportunities for students and ensuring they have the tools they need to succeed.”

SUNY Poly is receiving $2.7 million to create research centers in areas such as civil engineering, robotics and advanced communications, and advanced manufacturing, as it continues to chart a path to become the state and nation's premier public polytechnic.
