SUNY Poly Theoretical Physics Research Published in 'The European Physical Journal Plus'
SUNY Polytechnic Institute Assistant Professor in Applied Mathematics, Dr. Carlo Cafaro, is the lead author of a theoretical physics work recently published in The European Physical Journal Plus, a journal of the Italian Physical Society. This work is the outcome of a collaboration between Dr. Cafaro, Dr. Domenico Felice- Visiting Scientist at SUNY Polytechnic Institute, and Dr. Paul Alsing- Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL)-Information Directorate’s Quantum Information Processing Group Lead.
The research paper, “Quantum Groverian Geodesic Paths with Gravitational and Thermal Analogies,” is an invited topical article that belongs to the EPJ Plus Focus Point on “Classical and Quantum Information Geometry”. The desire of understanding the physics of quantum Groverian geodesic paths motivates the work where the authors present a number of intriguing analogies that emerge in the geometric formulation of quantum, gravitational, and thermal physics phenomena related to simple harmonic oscillator (SHO) type of motion. More specifically, the paper discusses the universality of the emergence of geodesic motion of SHO type in the presence of conserved quantities by analyzing three specific phenomena of quantum, gravitational, and thermodynamical origin, respectively.
